Go for a ride.

What will you ride today?

A bicycle? A horse? A motorcycle? A car?

A snowmobile? A go-cart? A sleigh? A scooter?

A camel? A motorboat? An elephant? A tricycle?

A segway? An elevator? A donkey? An escalator?

A skateboard? A golf cart? A helicopter?

If you could ride anything, what would it be?

Where would you go?

I like memes.  I like getting ideas from them, and I like hearing other people’s responses.  I have links to my favorite meme site in my links section, The Daily Meme.  I also linked to the sight where I found today’s meme, Meme Express.  I think it’s only fair since I’m using their idea.

I will ride a car today.  I know, not a very exciting choice, but I live in the Northeast, in the Northeastern part of the state.  Frankly, it is 14 degrees here which is freakin’ cold in case you need that pointed out.  The other thing is that there is nothing much close out here.  I could ride a bike (if I wouldn’t freeze my ass off), but I’m not going to ride a bike 17 miles to go Christmas shopping.  Plus it’s really hard to fit three kids on the back of a bike.  So today when I go out to run my errands and spend money that I really don’t have but have to spend anyway, I will be driving my car.

Now, those of you who have read prior posts know that when I say my “car” I use that in only the loosest of senses.  So here is what I would rather ride: a horse – Not practical for various reasons.  First, read the part above about the bicycle and change the word “bike” to “horse”.  Second, although we do have what could be considered a barn on our property, it has no doors, needs new windows, and a new floor.  Plus I’m out of oats.

Tired

I should be asleep.  I really should.  I was asleep, but then the baby woke up.  Now the baby is back in her crib sleeping, and I am sitting at the computer.  It is 2:21 a.m. and I have to be up at 6:30 a.m.  Not just up, but functioning so I can make lunches and pack backpacks and get kids moving at the same time as I shower and dress for work and take care of the baby.  So what am I doing awake?  Too much stuff in my head.  Maybe I should dump some of it out.

I don’t want to vote tomorrow.  I hate most of what McCain and Palin stand for.  I think Palin isn’t qualified to run a diner, much less be one rage-induced stroke away from the presidency.  Given the choice I would prefer to vote for Tina Fey.  At least the speeches would be amusing.  But I’m not a huge Obama supporter either.  There are a few issues I just can’t agree with him on, and some of them affect people close to me very directly.  So I don’t want to vote.  Which isn’t to say I’m not going to, of course I am.  I am a citizen of this country and voting is one of my responsibilities as such.  I am just very, very tired of having to choose the lesser of two evils.  Not that they’re evil exactly, but you know what I mean.  Who will be less bad for the country?  That’s how I vote these days.  Not who will be good for the country, because I don’t think any of them will be.  “Politician” was never meant to be a career choice, and anyone who chooses it is automatically unqualified to be the voice of other people because they are self-agrandizing, dishonest and just generally full of themselves.

I want a new car.  Not a NEW car, but a new car for me.  My car is a disaster.  It is a 1991 Volvo 740.  It is a color that is sometimes called green and sometimes identified as blue.  It depends on the light and who you’re asking.  It has well over 200,000 miles on it, possibly approaching 240k at this point.  It has power windows.  The one on the front passenger side will go down, but doesn’t go back up.  Usually not until the next day, after it has rested.  The rear passenger side will go down, but you can only put it up with the button on that door, not the one on the driver’s door.  The hatchback doesn’t stay open on its own.  You have to prop it open with a pole.  It came with the car.  I believe it is one of those poles you screw into the handle of a paint roller when you want to paint the ceiling.  It has a sunroof.  The fabric on the ceiling (?) of the car had to be removed because it was sagging down and blocking my view while driving.  The driver’s seat cannot be adjusted forward or back.  I am 5’1″.  My fiancé is 6′.  Can you see why that might be a problem?  The cup holders broke off.  The pocket on the driver’s side door broke open.  The driver’s side rear door, when you open it from the inside, frequently has part of it come off in your hand.  Despite the problem supposedly being fixed, it smells like anti-freeze.  It had power steering.  It doesn’t any longer.  It is like driving a bus.  On the upside, my arms are getting more toned.

Sadly, my car is the safe one in the family, and will not be replaced first.  Which should give you some idea of how bad the other car is.

I had more to say, but I think I will opt to try sleep instead.  G’night all.
